Ugly veggies for delight!

That a restaurant menu is laden with all the delicacies which a human would like to feast upon is no hidden thing. But that the same menu houses some crappy (read: revolting) a dish too surely is. And that is probably because no one ever brings themselves to order those. Why? Because they are a tad too, well, boring. And hideous to taste buds.

Here are some dishes that north Indian restaurant in Delhi that sound hideous or maybe even look hideous. But just a mouthful of it will leave you revelling in its delectable flavour.

  • Eggplant: The name in itself is weird enough to compel people to think how awkward the taste will be. True, it is unsightly (for the use of a better word!), but dig into it and you will know that its taste is not. An eggplant has savoury vegetables filled inside; it’s only when you will split it open that you will know how magical the taste is. It is marinated for some time before being put on coal stove in an iron utensil.

  • Pumpkin: Evokes a deadly, ugly image, right? This sweet and sour, tangy veggie will surely leave you up for more helpings. Only the name sounds retarded; if cooked correctly it is good enough for you to demand more of it. Always some more!

  •  Zucchini: Evokes childhood memories when moms would fill in the tiffin boxes with the unpleasant vegetable and would snub when the tiffin would come back untouched and uneaten. Just a mouthful of it at Dhaba by Claridges Saket will revamp those memories forever. Yes, taste the veggie at DBC, replete with garam masala and it will be the show-stopper amidst all the dishes on the table. You will be surprised to find yourself licking your fingers over Zuchini. Yes, sure you will!
